In the interest of full disclosure, One Mile At A Time earns a referral bonus for anyone that’s approved through some of the below links. These are the best publicly available offers that we have found for each card. Please check out our advertiser policy for further details about the partners we work with. Thanks for your support!
- 3x points on airfare purchased with airlines
- 2x points on gas purchased at US gas stations & groceries purchased at supermarkets
- $0 introductory annual fee for the first year, then $175
Even after the first year, the card might make sense if you spend enough on airfare, or maybe gas and groceries, although lots of cards offer bonuses for that.
While a Starwood point is generally worth more than a Membership Rewards Point, there is one huge added benefit to Membership Rewards — instant transferability to many programs. Membership Rewards has many transfer partners, including Aeroplan, British Airways, Delta, and Singapore. While I don’t always book awards on short notice, it can take 1-2 weeks for miles to be transferred to an airline account from Starwood, and that’s just too long.
So I’m very tempted by this card, but much like Gary I’d probably wait till January to get it.
