13,500 United miles and one free night at any Hyatt for every second stay (United 1K’s only)

After quite a bit of confusion regarding the terms & conditions of Hyatt’s upcoming Faster Free Nights promotion, the rules have finally been clarified to allow the earning of Faster Free nights when selecting miles as your earning preference. So if you’re a United 1K and choose to earn miles instead of points for your next Hyatt stay, you can earn 5,500 Mileage Plus miles per stay (500 base and 5,000 bonus), along with 2,500 Mileage Plus miles after every two nights. In addition to that you’ll earn one free night after every two stays. Registration is required (follow links above), and the 5,000 mile 1K bonus is only good through October 31, so book and stay quickly.

So let’s do the math: 5,500+5,500+2,500=13,500 miles for two stays. Valuing those miles at 1.5 cents a piece, we’re looking at $200. That alone should cover the cost of two hotel nights at your local Hyatt Place. Add that to the free nights you’ll earn, and this is probably the best promotion out there right now.

Now, if only we could talk the manager of a Hyatt Place into giving us a “corporate rate” and not requiring us to check-in. Get busy calling those local Hyatt Place hotels, folks…. 😉

  1. Wow. This really is amazing. I had been on the fence about whether to make one-night phantom stays for FFNs alone. But this just seals it. There are several properties near me where I can flip back and forth with $60 one-night weekend stays.

Thanks for the pointer to the Hyatt post about combinability of this offer!

I’d still bet that the 5000 United mile bonus is accessible by anyone, not just 1Ks, and that the terms and conditions would allow one to fight for the miles if they didn’t post automatically…

  2. This reminds me of the days of Priceline + telephone check-in = cheap FFNs from my sofa in Toronto.

I’m definitely going to pick up a few of these, even though cheap Hyatt properties are thin on the ground where I live.

  3. Stays where you physically show up to check-in are not phantom stays (those are where you never even set foot on the property – Hyatt doesn’t give stay credit / points / miles for those as a rule).

  4. I’ve had good luck also combining the 2,500 points targeted offer at summerfield/hyatt place and the 500 point welcome amenity with the united offers. So what ends up posting to my account for 2 $63/night stays is a total of 13,500 united miles and 6,000 hyatt points. Plus free breakfast and free internet. What a fantastic deal! Also you can choose 3,000 pts every stay (after the first stay during the promotion) INSTEAD of faster free nights. It’s not quite as lucrative but you don’t have to use them by march like the FFN.

  5. Have any 1K’s tried this out yet? I’m a 1P and I’d like to know if the 5k miles thing works for us or not 🙁

  6. Lucky- wanted to pass along a local promotion for anyone traveling out of DFW.

  7. How can I choose miled instead of points on My Hyatt Gold Passport account, I cannot find the place to do it online!

  8. Marek,

You can’t choose online. When you check in at the hotel, you need to show your UA MP card to the front desk and request “miles”.

  9. @Marek — as Joe said. Keep an eye on your Hyatt GP account to see whether they actually post miles. For my first Hyatt Place stay recently they didn’t even though I had shown my 1K card at check-in. A quick email to GP membership services fixed it without any hassle (the miles haven’t posted yet with UA, but they show in the GP account).

Question: does anyone know if a stay before registration for the 2500 mile bonus offer counts? I stayed at a Hyatt Place on 9/19. If I add another stay, will the second one (that one after registration) trigger the bonus? I suspect not, but does anyone know?

  10. @Oliver – I had about 5 stays from before the 2500 mile promotion. As soon as I signed up for the promo (the first day it came out) my account immediately credited me the 2500 mile bonuses for those previous 5 stays. I got two 2500 bonuses and then 2 days later when I did a 6th stay, I got another one. Also the 5000 mile bonuses had already posted, as well as the 2500 point HSS/HP bonuses and 1W! This is a good time for GP members!!!

  11. Another good current GP deal is the DEL5K valid at resorts till end Jan , just booked an upcoming stay at Huntington Beach Resort for $160 a night said it was sale rate with DEL5K rate you get $150 dining credit for lunch or dinner and extra 5,000 points, great deal.
With current double stay to next tier promotion I think its a little unfair the Platinum amenity cerificates are not given out for these stays, I enjoy using those.
Also anyone know with the double stay promotion if may stay 25& 26 stay on that trip will I be treated as Diamond level on that trip or will it wait till the next one
