US Airways’ “Race to Preferred Status”

Kudos to US Airways for their creativity. They’re not matching the double elite qualifying miles promotion that most other legacies are offering, but instead has a pretty awesome fast track.

Via Gary:

It’s a fast track or challenge for everyone, and no registration is required. Here’s the reduced requirement:

Fly 7,500 miles or 10 segments and earn Silver Preferred status
Fly 15,000 miles or 20 segments and earn Gold Preferred status
Fly 22,500 miles or 30 segments and earn Platinum Preferred status
Fly 30,000 miles or 40 segments and earn Chairman’s Preferred status

I’ve gotta say, US Airways has improved quite a bit over the years, and Chairman’s Preferred status for 30,000 flown miles doesn’t sound half bad. That’s not to say I’ll actually go for it, but for a split second the thought crossed my mind.

  1. …don’t think I want to spend 30,000 miles on US metal. Also don’t think having chairman’s preferred status gets me anything I want. Other than that, great promo on their part though.

  2. Shocked you gave US Airways some props. Maybe a comparison between there proposed new Envoy Suite (just annouced) and the other business class options for intl travel ?

    Seems up your alley…
