It’s time for some enhancements. No, not those enhancements, real enhancements, and I’m looking for some feedback.
First of all, as you’ve probably noticed, there’s a new “Ask Lucky” feature, which you’ll find on the right side of the screen. It’s the perfect place to ask anything travel related that’s not discussed in one of the posts.
I had a couple more ideas, and I’d love some feedback on them. My favorite part about blogging is the interactive aspect of it, as I love hearing different thoughts and ideas from readers. That’s what both of these ideas are aimed at:
1. How about having an “editorial” or sorts from a reader once a week? You can already make comments, but I was thinking about a reader (ideally a non-blogger, just to make the perspective truly “fresh”) writing a post once a week. I’m not talking about a fancy 1,500 word essay with MLA citations or anything, but just some thoughts from readers regarding current events in the industry, travel tips, or overall travel philosophies, anywhere from a paragraph to a few paragraphs long. Heck, it could even be a post disagreeing with a post I’ve made that week or sometime in the past, whatever you’d like. It would be one post on the same day every week. “Open Mic Mondays,” maybe (thanks to Jacqueline for the name)?
2. This is more of an odd question, but I’ll go for it anyway. I see some other blogs (some with a higher readership, some with about the same, and some with a lower readership), giving away prizes from sponsored third party travel related companies every so often. If I actually made a dime from this blog I’d shell out some $$$ and buy prizes, but alas I don’t. I’d love to be able to have some “contests,” and I would be happy to “promote” the travel company, assuming I believe in their product, in exchange. I have a respectable readership (I could provide more detailed stats, should anyone be interested in “sponsoring” a prize or know of a company that might be interested). Basically I’m wondering in general terms what the best way to go about this would be, and more specifically if anyone or any company might be interested.
Those are just a couple of ideas. If you have any thoughts on these ideas or something else, feel free to post them in the comments section below or send me an email at email@example.com
As always, thanks for reading!
