Free miles on Carnival Cruises?

Here’s a unique way to earn some miles on a Carnival cruise thanks to FlyerTalk. Basically you can load up your casino “card” with up to $1,000/day (per guest), and you can charge it to your credit card. Then you can cash out whenever you want to. The only thing to keep in mind is that you could end up with a LOT of cash, and also that you have to declare over $10,000 in cash at customs.

I would definitely do this if taking a Carnival cruise. It’s much easier than the dollar coins sceme, in my opinion.

  1. NCL and other cruise lines do the same cash advance as Carnival. Basically take the cash advance on your cruise room charge, which is then settled on your credit card at the end of the cruise.

  2. @ Mike — Good to know, thanks.

@ zim — Are you sure about that? According to the thread Carnival doesn’t, while RCL does….

  3. Yeah, I was on a Carnival Cruise last month and all the casino transactions incurred a 3% fee.

  4. The transaction fee is becoming standard it seems. The cruise lines really didn’t care when you were just gambling your money away, but do when the casino is being used as an ATM and this process actually cost them money.
