This past weekend I had a one night stay at the InterContinental San Francisco thanks to the $119 Travelzoo rate. This time around I got upgraded to a junior suite, which was nicely appointed. It’s more of a large executive room than a suite, but when traveling alone it’s perfect. The bed couldn’t be any more comfortable (I’d have to say it was as comfortable as a “Heavenly Bed”), and there’s really nothing I’d change about the room.
As a Royal Ambassador I also got access to the Club InterContinental, which is great by US standards.
What really sets this hotel apart are the great employees (except for one guy). They’re helpful and proactive, especially the club lounge staff. After my first visit they remembered my name, which scores big points in my book.
I’m convinced this hotel is the best value in San Francisco given the current rates (and the Travelzoo rates they frequently offer), and they also know how to treat frequent guests.
Much better than the shabby chic InterContinental Mark Hopkins which “upgrades” Royal Ambassadors to a room with a fax machine and calls it a “business room.”
For a more thorough review of this property, check out my review from last September, where I got upgraded to the Bay Suite.
