Free three-month Clear membership via Starwood

Register here by February 28 to get a free three-month Clear membership via Starwood. As far as I can tell anyone with a Starwood number that hasn’t previously been a Clear member can take advantage of this. It’s worth noting that they set you up for automatic renewal, so be sure to change your preferences if you don’t want to renew and pay $199/year.

On one hand I’d like to give it a try just for the heck of it, but the only airport I’ll be going through security at that has Clear is Newark, so I doubt it’s worth the effort.

  1. I dunno. Giving a private company my personal information and biometric data (I assume… I haven’t really looked) for the sole benefit of being able to jump the line to the scanners? ‘Cause it really doesn’t save me the hassle of taking off the shoes, putting all metal items into my bag, pulling the laptop out of my backpack, removing my belt, getting wanded, … Just doesn’t seem worth it.

  2. You neglected to mention that Platinum SPG Members get an entire year free of Clear Registered Traveler…

  3. Pat, that’s true, but unfortunately my travels don’t take me to SFO in the next three months, at least not as a destination. Of course that could change.

Good point, Todd. That has been around for a while, and as far as I know this three month offer is new, which is why I mentioned this (although I should have still mentioned the one year membership for Plat members).
