After reducing elite mileage bonuses in September, Continental is offering elites a way to earn back those miles. Those that have the Continental Presidential Plus card, which comes with a hefty $375 fee, will get the old mileage bonuses starting March 1. Specifically, Silvers with the card will be getting a 50% mileage bonus (as opposed to 25%), and Platinums will be getting a 125% mileage bonus (as opposed to 100%).
So, is it worth it? Well, it really depends. The Presidential Plus card comes with Presidents Club membership, which costs $325 or more a year, depending on status. So I think it’s fair to say that if you have a Presidents Club membership this card will be a no brainer, especially with the mileage bonus, while it might not be worthwhile for those that wouldn’t otherwise have a Presidents Club membership.
