Happy New Year!

Happy New Year to everyone! May 2009 be filled with plenty of miles, points, upgrades, elite status, and of course travel.

I think it’s fair to say I’m a bit too addicted to miles. As we ring in the New Year the first thing that hits my mind is that all of my mileage accounts once again sit at zero elite qualifying miles/points for the year. The most depressing of those has to be my United account, where I went from over 200,000 EQM’s to this:

On one hand it’s sad to see, but on the other hand it means that another year filled with travel and the never-ending quest for elite status is starting. Add to that the six systemwide upgrades that will be deposited shortly, and I think I’ll get over it. 😉

The fact that I have over 50,000 miles already booked for the first quarter of 2009 probably makes it easier as well. The highlight of that will be a first class award ticket to Hong Kong and Manila on Cathay Pacific and Japan Airlines. I also have weekend trips to Houston (for the Continental Do), Seattle, and Vegas (thanks to the great fares) planned, and three mileage runs which include two segments on Premium Service and three segments on the reconfigured 767. I also have over 10,000 miles booked on Northwest, which will be a nice change of pace from United.

Anyone else have any cool travel plans for the coming year?

Again, happy New Year!

  1. Headed to LHR, PVR, ROC, YVR, DXB, CAI before the 15th of February… and then I have a nice SEA-YYZ-SCL-GRU-YYZ-SEA award later this year. 80k for F wasn’t bad!
