Continental seems to be matching Northwest elites….

While airlines typically don’t do status matches intra-Alliance (i.e. SkyTeam carriers won’t match the status of SkyTeam elites), it seems like Continental is slowly getting ready for joining the Star Alliance, since a FlyerTalker reports getting a status match to CO Plat as a NW Plat, which wasn’t possible in the past.

For those SkyTeam elites that want to get in on the Star Alliance action eventually, or just want to make the switch to CO, this is something to consider.

  1. No, I’m not. I’m already Star Gold and 1K with United, so am just pointing this out for people that are currently SkyTeam flyers and would like to earn miles with a superior alliance (eventually).

  2. I had my daughter become a NW silver elite last year because her flights would not have given her enough credits to qualify in the CO program (my wife and I are both CO plats). If I apply now for a match, would CO silver be good through 2009, or only through 2008? Thanks.
