I wasn’t originally going to post about this, but since View from the Wing blogged about the new 62,500 point Hilton credit card this morning, I might as well. I’ve long been contemplating getting the HH credit card, but the most recent offer pushed me over the edge, so I pulled the trigger early this week.
Basically with a second cardholder, four stays at Hilton properties, and $1,500 of spend in the first three months, you get 62,500 HH points. Add to that the fact that there’s no annual fee and that having this card gives you access to the AXON (four nights at a category 6 hotel for 125,000 points) and GLON (six nights at category 6 hotel for 175,000 points) awards, it seems worth it, although frankly I’m not sure I’ll be staying at a single hotel for four nights in the near future, let alone six.
With this card you earn three points per dollar on all purchases, and five points per dollar at supermarkets, drugstores, gas stations, restaurants, Hilton hotels, etc. I think I’ll stick to using this card for the five point categories, since I don’t want to give up too airline miles. Heck, if it weren’t for CC spend I wouldn’t have gotten two Cathay Pacific first class award tickets to Asia, and I value that a bit more than a nice hotel. Anyway, at five points per dollar, that’s $8,000 in spend for a night at a top tier hotel, like the Conrad Hong Kong, which I figure is a pretty good deal.
By the way, for anyone interested in the Hilton offer, you can apply here.
