ANA transpac F award availability

ANA F award seats are about as rare as they get for transpacific flight. In the past couple of years I’ve seen F awards available on maybe three occasions. Well, I was very happy to read that all of a sudden ANA has released several seats, sometimes even two on each flight.

From View From the Wing:

And so it’s strange that I’m seating flights showing up with two first class award seats together.  Now is a real opportunity for securing those awards!

I haven’t done any particularly deep searches, but did notice that Washington DC to Tokyo is available for two award seats in first class March 1, 2, 3, 4, and 8.  Lots of opportunities around those dates out of Chicago as well.

I’m not so sure if I’m willing to spend miles just to fly ANA since I’m headed to Asia next week and am saving miles for Egypt right now, but for those that want to go to Asia, this is without a doubt the way to go. I’ve heard nothing but great stuff about ANA, and in a way this is the holy grail of awards because it’s so rarely available.

I’m really hoping that this is a permanent change and that they’ll actually have F award availability with a bit consistency from now on, but I’m not too hopeful that this is anything more than a temporary “glitch,” if you want to call it that. Rarely are ANA F cabins full in my experience, but I guess keeping them empty is part of maintaining the integrity of the cabin for them.

Have you done any poking around for ANA F lately? I was thinking of 2 seats to NRT for next Aug, but don’t see much. Just wondering if the glitch has been fixed.
