Just about ready to fly…

As I reported back in early April, I’ll be flying about 45,000 “butt-in-seat” miles this month, over half of which will in the next week or so. Tomorrow I’m flying TPA-IAD-SFO-LAX, and I’ll be spending just over a day in LA before flying LAX-SFO-EWR-IAD-TPA. I’ll be meeting up with some friends in LA so for once will actually get to spend time on a mileage run outside of the airport. I booked a simple TPA-LAX roundtrip ticket and padded on some segments (I’ll explain how I construct mileage runs before the weekend is over, I promise), and spent a total of $250 before applying a $200 discount certificate, so my out of pocket spend is $50 for that trip. That’s over 8,000 EQM’s (16,000 now because United is offering double EQM’s), as well as 16,000+ redeemable miles for award travel.

I get back to TPA Monday afternoon after taking the redeye from SFO to EWR, and will get home at around 4PM. I’ll take a shower, sleep, and wake up again at 4AM, when I’ll once again do the same routing, TPA-IAD-SFO-LAX-SFO-EWR-IAD-TPA, with a four hour layover at LAX so I can meet some friends at In-N-Out. I’ll then get home Wednesday afternoon and have a couple of days off, and I’ll once again be in the air next Saturday, again flying TPA-IAD-SFO-LAX-SFO-EWR-IAD-TPA. I’ll be meeting some friends in SF for dinner.

My total spend for these trips is $150, and the only reason I’m doing so many in a row is because this is my “free” week. My classes were over a couple of days ago and I’m taking some summer classes which start on Monday, May 12, so I figured I would rack up miles as quickly as possible while I still can.

After that it’s off to HNL for a weekend and then SFO again for Memorial Day weekend.

I’m sure I’ll have plenty of stories to share, be they positive (hopefully) or negative, and be very exhausted after doing three redeyes in a week, so stay tuned. I should have more time than usual to blog since I’ll have a lot of time to write, and will be connected to the web regularly.

Thanks for reading and please stay tuned!
